Benjamin Foundation

The Benjamin Foundation  has been founded different years ago from a private initiative and is a so called family foundation; a foundation without fundraising, which is donating from a private family fund. The founder, a retired businessman, who was born in 1930. As a three months old baby he was adopted by an elderly couple. His foster parents did accommodate refugees during World War II and for their foster sons safety he was placed in a children’s homes during this period. During his years of business work he achieved a lot and committed himself financially by helping vulnerable children to achieve a brighter future. A once made promise by him which is being realized through the Benjamin Foundation. More about this in Background”.

The goal of the Benjamin Foundation is to support vulnerable children worldwide, with a focus on orphaned children and children from single parent families and very vulnerable children, who will get a chance for a better future. The most important points from our policy can be found on this website. Benjamin foundation does not have any owned projects, but only supports existing projects, which will get a contract for a certain amount of years.

The Benjamin Foundation is supporting projects in the following countries:

  • Indonesia (Bali)
  • Kenya (Thika and Kilifi area)
  • Tanzania (Kagera (Bukoba/Kayanga Karagwe)

For more information on the several project see the heading “Projects”.

By e.g. sponsoring orphanages, children’s homes, education, family empowerment, health and school feeding programs we try to achieve our goals.
In Bali we support a medical bus which visiting orphanages and rural areas and the Smilehouse,a clinic where children from the rural areas with congenital face abnormalities are being treated.
In Kenya we are working on e.g. the sponsoring of children’s homes and orphanages and we reconstructed of a new school building in a rural area. Next to this we also support a pilot project for “Sheltered workshops” for young people whit an intellectual disability. A target group largely forgotten in Kenya, but which finally start to get the attention of the government.
This way we make it possible for many children to gain possibilities for a better future.

The board of our foundation consists of volunteers who follow the developments on all projects carefully. For more details see Board members”.
We have a Project adviser who visits the projects several times for a longer period in order to obtain the best and realistic possible picture about all ins and outs and, if requested or needed, to give advise and/or to support.
All decisions about the sponsoring of a project or the continuation of sponsoring is carefully considered and discussed.

The Benjamin Foundation is always curious about and open to possible new projects but mainly in short projects.
